Paradise University is a web-based, supernatural drama with LGBT themes that is currently in pre-production for season 4. The series plays on H.P. Lovecraft and ancient mythologies to create a world filled with shape-shifters, witches, shamans, cults and much much more! 'Paradise University is a project that is really close to my heart, creator and writer Justin H.Guess approached me about writing for the show after reading my freshman novel-Demon In The Mist. So I am very ecstatic to finally see my work, along side Mr. Guess, and series star Michael Sinard, who also wrote for the series, be developed into this exciting and varied new season. Also it should be noted that a major LGBT network has picked up "Paradise University" for global syndication in the European market.

With all that said I would like to share with horror and supernatural fans the crowd funding information and this fun video telling fans what perks are available for your support. 'Paradise University' is crowd funding over on Kickstarter with some pretty intimate, and truly collectible rewards. So definitely check it out and support this truly indie project that an established mythos that offers a new, fun spin on the supernatural occult drama. Oh and there is blood, sacrifice, magic, sex, passion, power, evil and good exploding loads of entertainment!

'Paradise University' is created by Justin H. Guess, co-written by Michael Sinard and myself (Rickey Russell). The series stars Declyn Charles, Anne Austin, Jon Tyler, Joe Bailey, Blayne Ackerman, Shannon Skinner and Christy Rach. The show will be adding new cast members to play some very cool new characters, all of whom will shake things up in the small community of Paradise Landing. A small college town on Milton's Island, Paradise Landing is privy to beautiful scenery, quaint little shops, a seaside bar a variety of characters and a mysteriously deadly virus that is decimating the entire student body. Personalities are bound to clash when egos, testosterone and sex are in the mix.

My Review Of "The Eve"

"The Eve" is a classic style psychological thriller directed by Ritchie Steven Filippi. The film stars Al Thompson, Maria DiDomenico, Miranda Noelle Wilson, Evan Bass in a "killer in the house" concept nightmare that takes place on and the eve of New Years. Although it keeps the horror elements toned down, it is all rather PG, "The Eve" does have a pretty tight story arc and moving point-of-view that makes the characters pretty dark and well developed.

The Synopsis: Scott, Jenn, Harry, and Lacey head off to the remote island of Martha’s Vineyard to celebrate New Year’s Eve and reconnect. There are already initial tensions as they have grown apart since the days of college friendships, but as tensions continue to rise, an unforeseen presence halts celebrations and instead turns their holiday into a fight to live through to the new year.

Ritchie Steven Filippi shows some real talent in controlling the story and moving it even paced from start to finish. The cast all give very strong performances and really emote. The dialog moves nicely between character development scenes, and allow for you to really buy into these people and the nightmare situation they are in. Plus for the first 40 minutes or so you really don't get a sense to who is the killer. More on that later.

The special effects are very minimal, as I stated before-everything is really PG here. There are some small moments with blood and a bit of quick violence, but everything stays mostly off camera and suggestive. Filippi nor writer Evan Bass, every get visceral, or gory with the horror so the effects remain mostly driven by the struggles and fears of these characters. Plus the atmosphere has elements of Hitchcock that play up the melodrama and shadowy backgrounds. Most of the film happens at night so the psychological side really does play out well in "The Eve". The film has a nice, classic thriller soundtrack mixed in that carries the atmosphere and emotion of this nightmare.

Overall "The Eve" is a nice thriller for fans of the more 'Lifetime adjacent' stories that works more on emotion and less on horror. The film really does show Filippi and the rest of the cast and crew's talent, I really could find no fault in the performances, the story, the cinematography or even the toned down scenes that call for violence. My only real complaint is that I wanted to see some more blood and carnage, I wanted to really get into the kill scenes on this one. Plus it would have been nice if there was a bit of decor or something that really played on the whole "New Year's Eve" horror aspect of "The Eve". Still it is a decent "soft" thriller with a devious ending, and it does have the Auld Lang Syne song used in a very dark and creepy way!

Horror Parody Just Got Hardcore With "Handjob Cabin" Trailer

Horror parodies just got a little hardcore with spoof trailer for fake film "Handjob Cabin". The trailer celebrates the genre with a hilarious take on "Cabin In The Woods" and quite frankly it has me jonesin' for more-in the form of a real film based on this fake film trailer.

This comes from Director Nice Piece and stars Nicole Shipley, Jareb Duplaise, Jenna Willis, Jackson Kendall, Pablo Hernandez, and Owen Benjamin. The story follows some friends who find their vacation cabin is has a crazy horny ghost really into handjobs that are deadly. Check it out below.

"Deep Dark" Gives Us A Hole From Hell

There is your standard "hole in the wall" and then there is "Deep Dark". The horror film from Mike Medaglia gives us the terrifying "hole in the wall" from Hell. It stars Don Alder, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Erin Hagen, John Nielsen, and you will realize the warning behind the tagline: This Is No Glory Hole when "Deep Dark" lands on DVD/VOD November 10th thanks to Uncork'd Entertainment. Until then enjoy the tons of twisted eye candy released for the film.

Hermann, a failed sculptor, is about to kill himself when he finds a strange, talking hole in the wall. The creature in the hole (Denise Poirier, the voice of ÆON FLUX) has the power to fulfill his wildest dreams, but things go horribly wrong and when the killing starts, Hermann is thrust into the worst nightmare of his life. Deep Dark is a twisted tale warning you to be careful what you wish for, because it just might get you.

Trailer And Stills From "Krampus: The Reckoning"

Check out the stills and trailer for the latest in the Krampus craze. The Christmas dark lord is about to see you receive your retribution in this latest tale of terror, "Krampus: The Reckoning" taking out the naughty on November 3rd. The film is directed by Robert Conway and stars Monica Engesser, Amelia Haberman, James Ray, Kevin Tye, Sean G P Anderson, Jeffrey Lamar, Owen Conway, Carrie Fee, Nathaniel Burns, and Shawn Saavedra. CGI or no, "Krampus: The Reckoning" has two things that I like in seasonal horror, Christmas and Krampus!

Zoe is a strange little girl, with a not so imaginary friend the Krampus who is the dark companion of kindly old St. Nicholas. The Krampus has been unleashed upon a small town and the legendary demon will seek out all the naughty people to punish them at Christmas time. Dr. Gangrene's Tips For A Safe Halloween

Shackle Island Studios and Red Headed Revolution Pictures have unveiled their newest Public Safety Film titled ‘Happy Halloween With Dr. Gangrene.’ The new short film features Larry Underwood as Dr. Gangrene listing a number of safety tips to pint sized trick-or-treaters. The safety film was written by Larry Underwood and directed by Cameron McCasland. It was filmed in Middle Tennessee and features McCasland's young children Roxie & Marie McCasland as well as Jessica and Joseph Auguon Drake Jr. whom McCasland had previously worked with on other projects. The poster for the short was designed by J. Kyle Kelly at Villain Place in Nashville, TN. Kelly also shared shooting duties and editing on the project. The cartoon image of Dr. Gangrene is courtesy of artist Jeff Carlson.

Underwood said of the project “Halloween is a magical time of year, and we want kids to have fun and be safe out there. You know what they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, or candy, as the case may be.”

2015 has been a banner year for the horror film making duo. Underwood's Dr. Gangrene was inducted into the Horror Host Hall of Fame during Horrorhound Weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio. His new series 'The Fantastic Films of Vincent Price' just completed its 44th episode, and he picked up his third Rondo Statuette this time for his 'Tales From The Lab' blog. McCasland was named Indie Director Of The Year at the 2015 Indieville TV Awards. His feature length slasher film 'The Lashman' was the recipient of a Matchflick Flicker Award for Best Throwback film. His newly released short film Tailypo recently picked up honors at the Imaginarium Film Festival. And he has also picked up hardware for his video producing work on several music industry related projects including a Communicator award for his documentary ‘I Heard The Devil Say My Name Out Loud’.

This new public safety film follows in a long line of shorts from collaborators McCasland & Underwood. Their ‘Go Green With Dr. Gangrene’ series ran for several years and received praise from the governor of Tennessee and the Nashville City Council. It also garnered national attention, picking up awards from the AEGIS awards, Ava Awards, MarCom Awards, Blingy Awards, The Accolade Competition, The DV Awards, a Public Service award from the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards, and four Emmy nominations from the Midsouth Chapter of the National Television Academy of Arts & Sciences.

'Happy Halloween With Dr. Gangrene' will air on The CW network as well as the NECAT network locally in Nashville, which currently airs re-reruns of the television program Dr. Gangrene Presents. It will also be screening at a number of Halloween themed events in October hosted by Dr. Gangrene, These include the rock n' roll extravaganza 'Dr. Gangrene's Horror Hootenanny.' A long standing tradition in Nashville now in its twelfth year. You can also catch it on the big screen, and under the stars, at the Franklin Drive-In in Franklin, KY for a terrifying triple feature of A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Goonies, and McCasland’s Tailypo. Tailypo will also be screening this October at Chattanooga's Frightening Ass Film Fest and in Nashville at the Yazoo brewery with ‘Cabin In The Woods’ for Monster Sundays presented by Something About Zombies.

The half hour comedy also features New England's Penny Dreadful and the legendary Count Gore DeVol. Fans of the show will also find a number of other classic episodes and special content available for the Halloween season.

Larry Underwood has portrayed horror host Dr. Gangrene in Nashville since 1999. He follows a long tradition of horror hosts in Music City including Russ McCown as Sir Cecil Creape and Ken Bramming as Dr. Lucifer.
